Government of West Bengal is Committed towards large scale Skill development for its youth population to improve the scope of gainful employment and entrepreneurial opportunities under the WBSDM (West Bengal Skill Development Mission) chaired by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal.
To ensure that the above commitment is met successfully the Department of Technical Education, Training & Skill Development; Government of West Bengal has launched the “Utkarsh Bangla”, a flagship scheme on 16th February 2016 under the aegis of the PBSSD (PaschimBanga Society for Skill Development) for placement linked short-term skill trainings across the State of West Bengal.
The Utkarsh Bangla Scheme is started by West Bengal government (Ministry of Human Resource and Development) with an aim of providing vocational training to school dropouts. Utkarsh Bangla Scheme, a welfare scheme for school-dropouts, in Kolkata. Under this scheme, each youth will get training ranging from 400 to 1200 hours. The school-dropouts will be trained free of charge in tailoring, driving, repairing television, Hardware Networking and other electronic equipment and beauty courses etc. Training will be completely free of cost even no fee required for registration.

The Utkarsh Bangla Scheme provides benefits in the form of free vocational training that would help them to gain employment and better life
Key features of is to give vocational training to school dropouts by providing training ranging from 400 to 1200 hours free of charge. Under this scheme, beneficiaries will be trained in driving, tailoring, repairing television and other electronic equipment’s, beautician courses etc
On successful completion, the courses beneficiaries will be given certificates, Utkarsh Bangla Scheme also ensures that the students get the opportunity of campus placements after their training
Polytechnic and ITI training to 6 lakh students every year will be provided under the scheme
Some of the companies that will provide employment under the scheme are Samsung, Raymond, Berger Paints, Maruti Suzuki, ASSOCHAM (gems and jeweler), and CREDAI
Required eligibility and conditions for applying Utkarsh Bangla Scheme:
Candidate must be residents of West Bengal state

  • Leaving Certificate
